Obituary

William John Elenbaas age 87 of McBain, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital. He was born December 31, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to Isaac and Gertrude (Venema) Elenbaas. He entered into marriage on June 30, 2000 to Margaret Joann Jenema at Aetna Christian Reformed Church.

Bill worked at TV 9&10 for 49 years as an engineer. Bill was a member of the Rehoboth Reformed Church in Lucas where he served on the audio and sound system. He was a man of few words, but lived out his faith in every way. He enjoyed wood working, photography and wood carving. He had traveled to Poland a few times, and he also remodeled and ran the Missionary House in McBain, he never complained about anything.

He is survived by his wife; Margaret Elenbaas of McBain, daughter Dianna (William) Hall of Lake City, son in-law Daniel Defever of Grayling, grandchildren; Brittney (Matthew) Schwarck of Kalkaska, Melanie (Joseph) Turos of Kalkaska, Jade Medendorp of McBain, Theo (Audrey) Medendorp of LeRoy, Seth (Penny Deeren) Medendorp of Lake City and twelve great grandchildren, siblings; James (Jean) Elenbaas of West Columbia, TX, and Robert (Barb) Elenbaas of Lake Orion, in-laws; Jeanne (Dan) Suggate of Falmouth, Kathy Jenema of Eaton Rapids, Kathy Jenema of McBain.

He is preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in-law John (Maude) Jenema, daughter Christine Defever, siblings; Gerald Elenbaas, Frances (Jack) Horner, in-laws; David (Pat) Jenema, Jim Jenema, Dick Jenema.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Rehoboth Reformed Church in Lucas with Rev. Steve Boven officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM- 8:00 PM on Thursday also at the church and one hour prior to the service on Friday. A luncheon will be held after the service at the church and burial will take place in the Richland Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to Strong Tower Radio of Cadillac.
