Obituary

Thomas Duane Koetje, age 90, of McBain, Michigan, passed away on June 7, 2026 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on December 29, 1935 to Cornilius and Jennie (Mulder) Koetje in Vogel Center, Missaukee County. Tom married Norma TeBos on February 1, 1957 in Vogel Center.

Tom graduated from Northern Michigan Christian School of McBain. He worked as a truck driver for over 30 years. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed the outdoors. Tom was a member of the Vogel Center Christian Reformed Church. Tom proudly served his country from 1956-1958.

Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 69 years, Norma, children; Keith (Lori) Koetje, Steve (Tamara) Koetje, Dawn (Dave) Hoekstra, seven grandchildren; Amy, Tracy, Becky, Lynn, Heather, Jason, and Ashley, seventeen great- grandchildren and one great great- grandchild, and sister Angie Troost.

Tom was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers; Jay, Henry, Kenneth, and James, sisters; Margaret, and Nelly, and many in-laws.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at the Vogel Center Christian Reformed Church at 12 noon with Pastor Adam Barton officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of the service. A luncheon will follow at the church. Graveside service will take place at the Vogel Center Cemetery with the Cadillac Area Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northern Michigan Christian School. Arrangements are being made with Burkholder-Nielsen Funeral Home of McBain.
