Obituary

Steven "Butch" Howard Schoo, of Falmouth, passed away on February 11, 2025 at Quiet Creek in Falmouth, he was 79. Butch was born on October 27, 1945 in Cadillac to Howard and Maxine (DeKam) Schoo. He married Mary Lynne Herweyer on November 14, 1963 at her parents' home.

Butch worked as a hobby trucker selling hay, he was a driver for Total, Premart and Roger Bazuin. He was also a driving instructor at Pinnacle Truck Driving School. Butch was a beef farmer and enjoyed going fishing in Canada. He was a member of the Prosper CRC and the Farm Bureau.

Butch is survived by his two children, Melissa Schoo of Falmouth and Dan (Pat) Schoo of Falmouth; two granddaughters, Brittany (Coley) Laughlin of Evart and Paige Schoo of Falmouth; two great-grandchildren, Alena and Colson; siblings Mary Jane (Bob) Hitesman of Zeeland, Emily (Jim) Stange of Cadillac, and Tim (Sandy) Schoo of Falmouth; sister in-law Dorothy Al-Shawi of Cambridge, Massachusetts, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Maxine, wife Mary Lynne, father and mother in-law Lawrence and Anne (Tacoma) Herweyer, brother in-law's Ron Herweyer and Khalid Al-Shawi, nephews Tony Hitesman and Steve Herweyer.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain from 5:00PM-7:00PM. A celebration of life and burial will take place at a later date in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hospice of Michigan.
