Robert Orville Gallup, 82 of Lake City passed away April 16, 2026. He was born on September 19, 1943 in Waren, Michigan to Manley Orville and Josephine (Hall) Gallup. Robert married Jaunita Louise VanGilder July 3, 1963 in St. Clair Shores, Michigan.
Robert was an avid hunter and loved fishing. He was the first red truck out on Lake Missaukee when the ice was thick enough. He enjoyed raising pigs and loved his 40 acres. Robert had been a carpenter for 60 years and was first in the State of Michigan in the carpentry field and served four years as a journeyman. He had honesty and integrity and was highly respected. He also had worked in the oil fields as a derrick hand. He enjoyed playing Euchre and drinking Papst Blue Ribbon Beer.
Robert is survived by his wife Jaunita Gallup of Lake City, children, Diana Richards of Lake City, Susan Gallup of Cincinnati, Ohio, Dayle (Angela) Gallup of McBain, Mary (Jim) Billett of McBain, 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, in-laws, Loreen Bailey of Memphis, Tennessee, Paul (Pam) VanGilder, of Memphis, Tennessee, Micheal Buchheister of Memphis, Tennessee, Maryann Miller of Texas, sister in law, Elizabeth Gallup of Lake City, several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Harold Gallup, sisters, Lowella (Nick) Daniels, Helen (Irving) Webster, nephews, Kirk Gallup and Gary Daniels.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Burkholder-Nielsen Funeral Home with Keith D. Burkholder officiating. Visitation will be Monday, April 20 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Luncheon will be held at the McBain City Building following the service. Burial will take place at the Lake City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be may to the Family. Arrangements are being handled by Burkholder-Nielsen Funeral Home in McBain.
