Peter Joseph Bobon Jr. of Marion, Michigan passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026 at his home in Lake City, Michigan. He was born in Monroe Michigan on May 28,1942, to his parents Peter Sr. and Lottie (Lycynska) Bobon.

Peter is survived by his children Susie Walmsley (Earl) of Alpena, Jeffrey Bobon, and Owen Kent Bobon (Marion), Michigan. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kristina Landon (Jeff), Matthew Walmsley, Tiffany Bobon, Mara Bobon, Justynn Bobon, Alyssa Jordon (Jason), Alex Bobon (Ashley), and Jamie Bobon-Sylvester. Peter also had many great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Peter was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 51 years, Betty Jane Bobon (Parker), his parents Peter Senior, and Lottie, his grandson Jeffrey Bobon Jr., and his siblings Alfred Bobon, June Darrow, Lillian Dupie, and Sophie Chanie.

Peter built bridges for a living traveling throughout the United States and was a crane operator. Peter settled in Marion, Michigan and spent his time with his wife Betty until her passing in 2021. Peter had many hobbies including bow hunting, restoring old cars, and going to car shows. Peter also loved fishing with his friends and especially his wife. They were also known to enjoy a good snowmobile ride together and traveling the world. He was always up for sharing a nice cup of Joe or two with his friends and enjoyed conversations about his favorite passions. Him and Betty were also avid floral and bed gardeners. His yard always looked beautiful.

Peter and his wife Betty loved going to church at Chapel Hill Wesleyan church in Marion, giving and helping whenever they had the chance to make a difference. He considered his church his family, and attended up until he was no longer able to due to his failing health.

Per Peter’s request, he will be cremated and have a memorial service at Chapel Hill Wesleyan Church with Pastor Steve Boven officiating. He will be laid to rest in Marion, Michigan at Greenwood Cemetery. The memorial will be held on September 19th , 2026, at noon with a luncheon following.

The family of Mr. Bobon would like to give special recognition to his caregivers who selflessly spent many hours caring for Pete during this sacred time. Your loving presence made Pete’s last days more comfortable. In lieu of flowers, memorials and contributions can be made to his church family in his honor. It was Peter’s wish that his friends and family plant a new tree in his name. Arrangements are being made with Burkholder-Nielsen Funeral Home of McBain.
