Kenneth DeRuiter, age 75, of Falmouth, was called home to his loving Savior, Jesus Christ on May 6, 2026. Ken was born on October 16, 1950 in Cadillac, Michigan to Gerald DeRuiter and Ida Mae (Herweyer) DeRuiter. He married Ellie Bierens in Vogel Center on October 15, 1971.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ellie, children Scott DeRuiter, Hollie (Chazz) Masten, Kelly (Rich) Gunderman, grandchildren, Morgan & Nicholas DeRuiter, Kainen (Taylor) Rose that are expecting baby girl Rose in the fall, Mackenize (Trey) Misher, Trace & Kennedy Gunderman, great grandchildren, Owen, Henry Trey, Ellie Mae Mishler. Also surviving, brothers Jerry (Bev) DeRuiter, Dave (Cindy) DeRuiter, sisters, Bev (Pete) Clover, Dawn (Mark) Ebels, Diane (Dave) DeZeeuw, Bonnie (Dale) Brinks, many nieces and nephews, sisters in-law Pat Bierens, Ann Workman, and brother in-law Sid (Virginia) King, and best friend Keith DeRuiter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Ida Mae, in-laws Percy and Esther Bierens, step dad Henry King, brother Jay Bierens, nephews Tim Brunner, brothers in-law Jerry Workman, Keith Workman, sister and brother in-law Kay and Clif Klein, sister in-law Betty King, niece Tammie Beebe, and nephew Kregg Schierbeek.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at the Prosper Christian Reformed Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mitchell Leach officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday, May 11 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will be held right after the service. Burial will take place at the Prosper Cemetery in Missaukee County. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Prosper CRC or Samaritians Purse. Arrangements are being made with Burkholder-Nielsen Funeral Home of McBain. Thoughts and prayers may be left at burkholderfunerals.com
