Grace A. Smith, age 79, of Lake City passed away peacefully on June20, 2025, at the Green Acres Retirement Home in Cadillac. She was born in the house she lived in most of her life in Lake City, the daughter of James and Hattie (Workman) Boven, on December 7, 1945. On November 28, 1968, she entered in marriage with Donald Leroy Smith in Grand Blanc and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2024.

Grace loved to cook for her family and friends during gatherings at her home. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles and travel. She also loved watching her grandchildren and attending their special events.

She is survived by children: Jeff (Teresa) Smith of Grayling and Lesley (Rob Jensen) Hicks of Evart, Karen Smith of Las Vegas, NV, Brenda (Susan Manis) Smith of Jacksonville, Florida, Donald V (Daniel Blaha) Smith of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, sister: Jenny Burton of Grand Rapids, son-in-law: Jerry Pavia of Caro, 13 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother; Harold Boven, sister Freda Boven, daughter; Jeanne Vella-Pavia and grandchildren; Jacob Smith, Angelika and Carey Vella, and brother-in-law; Dave Burton.
