Freda Gertrude Eisenga, age 91, of Marion, passed away on June 8, 2026 at the Curry House Assisted Living. She was born on December 4, 1934 in Highland Township, Osceola County to John G. and Jacoba (Frederick) Lucas. Gert married Bruce Eisenga on April 7, 1967 in Highland Township.

Gert enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting, teaching Sunday school and she also taught sewing for 4-H. She was very involved in the farm and loved to drive the golf cart around the farm with the grandkids. She took pride in watching her kids and grandkids activities. A long-time member of the Highland Christian Reformed Church. She was known for her great sense of humor. Gert spent her spring time in Florida.

Gert is survived by her loving husband Bruce, son; Bryce (Amy) Eisenga, children; Karli Eisenga (Joseph VandenBos), Brenden Eisenga (Brianna VanHouten), Landen Eisenga, son; Bryan (Diane) Eisenga, children; Jordan (McKenna) Eisenga, Jonathon Eisenga, Andrew Eisenga (Emma Schierbeek), Nathen Eisenga (Alaina Rozeveld), Zach Eisenga, daughter; April (Dan) Villwork, children; Chase Villwock, Jack Villwock, Dane Villwock and son; Darwin (Kim) Eisenga, children; Tyler (Hollie) Eisenga, children Myles and Owen, Lauren (Trevor) Zonnefeld, children; Sage and Dawson, Jared (Tess) Eisenga. In-laws; Jean Venema and Nelson Eisenga (Kathy).

Gert was proceeded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, in-laws Jake (Johanna) Eisenga, brothers George Lucas and Fred (Alvis) Lucas, sisters Joan (Maurice) Hamming, Jane (Harold) Quist, and Henrietta (Ken) Westmaas and in-law Marlin Venema.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026 at the Highland Christian Reformed Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Todd Kuperus officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the funeral service. There will be a luncheon following the service at the church. Burial will take place at the Highland Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Life Resources or Northern Michigan Christian School.
