Obituary

Deborah K. Roby, age 68 of McBain, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Deb was born on August 3, 1957 in Sidney, Ohio to Robert and Marilyn (Halterman) Zimpher. She married Roger Roby on January 3, 1976 in Spencerville, Ohio. They just celebrated their 50 years of marriage.

Deb was a homemaker/farmer’s wife until her youngest started school. She worked at the McBain Public School as a parapro for 25+ years, touching the hearts of many children along the way.

Deb is survived by her husband Roger, children Matt (Erin) Roby, Heather Roby, Angie (Kevin) Heuker, and Darrin Roby, grandchildren Kaylie, Logan, Bridget, and Kenadie Roby, Paige VandenBos (Tommy Whitaker), and Kayla (Vince) Birch, mother Marilyn, sisters Cindy (David) McMichael, Robin (David) Kimmey, Rita Zimpher, in-laws Larry Roby and Ron (Connie) Roby, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Deb was preceded in death by her father Robert, father and mother in-law Paul and Evelyn Roby, and sister in-law Sue Roby.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Vogel Center Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Adam Barton officiating. Visitation will be held at the Burkholder-Nielsen Funeral Home on Sunday, July 12, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at the Richland Township Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the service at the Richland Township Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made out to the McBain School Elementary or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
