Obituary

David Mitchell age 66 of Manton passed away peacefully at Munson Hospice House on Friday, December 6th, 2024. Dave was born on April 12, 1958 in Detroit to Arden and Christine Mitchell. He married his loving spouse Peggy on August 21, 1991 at the Southern Baptist Church in Allen Park, Michigan.

Dave enjoyed spending his days being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He strengthened his faith at Greenwood Bible Church in Manton and had played guitar in their Greenwood Style Bluegrass Strings band. He always found projects around the house to keep him busy and would often be outside playing with his dog Hannah.

Dave had previously worked at Chrysler corporation in engineering and upon retirement him, Peggy and their family moved to northern Michigan to enjoy the peace and beauty of the country. After sadly losing Peggy to leukemia a couple of years ago, he began working part time at Munson Medical Center in the environmental services department and looked forward to working with his coworkers and bringing joy to patients along the way.

Dave is survived by his children Laura (Jason) of Cedar Springs, Mike (Brittany) Mitchell of Manton. He leaves behind five grandchildren, Justin and Kaylie Manry and Arden, Jackson and Murdock Mitchell. He is also survived by his nephew Dwayne (Debra) Harvey, and nieces Deborah Harvey and Roberta (Jeff) Turk. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Peggy; sister Carol Burton and parents Arden and Christine Mitchell.

His family would like to thank the staff at Traverse City Munson Hospital - Unit D5 and Maple Ridge Assisted Living Facility in Manton for their care and compassion during his time of need.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain with visitation from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Rev.
