Ann Elaine Wingerd, age 91 of McBain, Michigan passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026 while embraced by family. Ann was born May 3, 1935 in Rollin Township, Lenawee County, Michigan to Roy E. and Ruth (Cain) Friess; the second of five children. Ann graduated from Addison High School in Addison, Michigan in 1954.
Ann became engaged in 1953 to George Wingerd of Blissfield, Michigan. They married on July 17, 1954, they just celebrated their 72nd anniversary. Ann was the perfect wife, mother, and home maker. Ann also enjoyed knitting, sewing, and crocheting while working as an Avon Representative in the Blissfield, Michigan area. Ann was a member of the First United Brethren Church of Blissfield, Michigan. In 1968 Ann and George purchased land in the McBain, Michigan area. After commuting for 20 years, they made permanent home in the McBain area. They became members of the Lake City Christian Reformed Church. Ann enjoyed spending time with siblings, their families and friends in the McBain area.
Ann is survived by her husband George, daughter Patricia (Kyle) Cranor of Blissfield, Michigan, son’s Stephen (Angela) Wingerd of Riga, Michigan, Mark Wingerd of Blissfield, Michigan, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, sisters Penny (Terry) Harrington of Falmouth, Michigan, Reva (Jim) Hoaglund of Tustin, Michigan, and sister in-law Madeline Friess of McBain, Michigan.
Ann was preceded in death by a son George Wingerd Jr., brother Roy Friess, sister Catherine Myers, and brother in-law Richard Myers.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at noon at the Lake City Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Steve Boven officiating. Visitation will be held on the same day from 11:00 AM till the time of the service. A luncheon will follow the service. Burial will take place in the Riverside Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Ann Wingerd’s name can be made to Hospice or the Lake City Christian Reformed Church.
